10 AI launch moves on X, broken down
Study enough AI launches on X and the same moves keep appearing. None of them is a secret. What separates launches that travel from launches that stall is how many of these moves are combined and how well they are timed. Here are ten, with what each one does.
1. The result in the first ten seconds
The video shows the output before it explains the input. Viewers decide in seconds whether to keep watching; the result is what keeps them. Use it: cut your launch video so the “wow” frame appears before second ten.
2. A hook written as a claim
“This agent closed 40 support tickets overnight” is a claim the video can prove. “Introducing our new platform” is not. Use it: write the hook as a specific, testable outcome.
3. The founder as narrator
Launches posted by a founder with a personal angle often outperform the same announcement from a brand account. Use it: let the founder post, and have the company account quote with the link. See the founder thread teardown.
4. The link at the end
Distribution on X tends to favour posts that keep people on the platform. Use it: put the link in the last post of the thread and in the company account’s quote.
5. Scarcity that is real
Invite codes and waitlists turn access into a story, as long as the capacity limit is genuine. Use it: only if you can explain why access is limited. The waitlist unlock teardown covers the risks.
6. The creator wave
Many AI creators posting their own take in the same two hours makes a launch feel like news. Use it: brief creators a week early and agree a window. More in the creator wave teardown.
7. Replies as content
Strong launches answer questions in replies with short clips: “Can it do X?” followed by a 10 second video of it doing X. Each reply becomes a mini demonstration. Use it: keep a screen recorder ready on launch day.
8. Paid reach behind the organic post
Teams with budget boost the launch post itself once it is working, instead of running separate ads. Use it: switch on ads about an hour in.
9. The second wave
Day two posts (user builds, a deeper use case, behind the scenes) catch everyone who missed day one. Use it: plan five days of posts, not one. See launch week vs launch day.
10. A visible reason to act today
A launch perk, extended trial or free tier gives people a reason to try it now. Use it: put the perk in the final post of the thread and repeat it in replies.
How many moves do you need?
A launch with three or four of these moves, executed well, reaches past the founder’s followers. Launches that stall usually have one or two: a decent post and nothing behind it. Check which moves your launch is missing with the launch readiness score, or browse all launch teardowns.
