Product launch timeline for AI tools
Six weeks is enough time to launch an AI product properly on X without burning the team out. Each week has an owner and a short list of outputs. If an output is missing at the end of the week, the launch date moves, not the standard.
Decide what the launch is for
Owner: Founder + PM
Choose one goal (signups, paying users, a waitlist size) and the number that defines success. Write the one sentence positioning and test it on five people who do not know the product.
Warm up the founder account
Owner: Founder
X rewards accounts that already have conversations going. Post about the problem three times a week, reply to the accounts your buyers follow, and share small build updates.
Build the launch assets
Owner: PM + design
Script and record the launch video, draft the launch thread, and prepare static visuals for replies. Everything should tell the same story as the landing page.
Recruit amplification
Owner: Growth
Show the product privately to AI creators and KOLs who reach your buyers. Ask for honest reactions first; ask for launch day posts only from people who actually like it.
Lock commitments and the date
Owner: Launch owner
Fix the date and hour, confirm who posts on the day, brief team and investors, and load test. Check the calendar for large AI announcements that would bury yours.
Tease and rehearse
Owner: Everyone
Run three teaser posts, freeze risky deploys, schedule the thread, and rehearse launch day as a team. Prepare replies for the questions you expect most.
Run the war room
Owner: Everyone
Post at the fixed hour, alert the waitlist and amplifiers, switch on X ads once engagement is real, and reply to everything for the first three hours.
Second wave
Owner: PM + founder
A launch is a week, not an hour. Post use cases, user reactions and a behind the scenes thread. Measure against the number you wrote in week 6.
Compressing the timeline
Two weeks is possible when the founder account is already active and the product is stable. Keep weeks 3, 2 and 1 and run them in parallel: assets, amplification and commitments. What you cannot compress is audience: four weeks of posting about the problem is what makes the launch post land.
Not sure which weeks you can skip? The launch readiness score tells you. Track the tasks in the launch checklist.
