Launch week vs launch day: which works for AI products
There are two ways to structure an AI launch on X. A launch day puts everything into one coordinated moment. A launch week spreads announcements across five days, one per day. Both work. They work for different products.
How a launch day works
All the energy lands in a few hours: the main thread, the video, creators, ads, the waitlist message. Concentration is the point. Many accounts posting about the same product in the same window makes it feel like news, and early engagement pushes the post further.
Choose launch day when:
- You have one clear thing to announce.
- The product has a strong visual moment that a single video can carry.
- You have a meaningful group of amplifiers who can post at the same time.
Risk: if the post underperforms, there is no second shot that week.
How a launch week works
Each day brings a new announcement: a feature, an integration, an API, a pricing change, a customer story. Developer tool companies made this format popular because they ship many things at once and each deserves its own moment.
Choose launch week when:
- You are shipping several distinct things.
- Your audience is already engaged and will come back daily.
- You want sustained attention over a single spike.
Risk: with a small audience, five medium posts reach fewer people than one big one. Launch weeks also need five times the content.
Comparing the two
| Launch day | Launch week | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | One clear product or feature | Several releases at once |
| Audience needed | Small to medium, plus amplifiers | Medium to large, already engaged |
| Content load | One thread, one video | Five threads, several videos |
| Amplifier ask | One coordinated window | Repeated asks, harder to sustain |
| Failure mode | One weak post, no second shot | Attention fades by day three |
The hybrid we usually recommend
For most AI startups, the best structure is a launch day followed by a planned second wave:
- Day 1: the full launch day. Thread, video, creators, ads, war room.
- Day 2: a use case thread, showing one workflow in depth.
- Day 3: reactions and things users built, quoted and thanked.
- Day 4: behind the scenes: how and why it was built.
- Day 5: a results or “what we learned” post, plus what is next.
You get the concentration of a launch day and the staying power of a week, without needing five separate announcements.
