AI product launch checklist: 30 tasks from week 6 to launch week
A checklist is not a plan. It is how you make sure the plan actually happened. This one is the short version of what we run for every AI launch on X, with the reason each task is there. The interactive checklist has the same tasks with progress saved in your browser.
Positioning and proof (6 weeks out)
- Write the one sentence. What it does, for whom, the outcome. Everything else in the launch is built on it.
- Pick one goal and its number. Without it you cannot tell a good launch from a loud one.
- Watch five outside users try the product. Launch traffic is unforgiving. Fix what blocks a stranger before thousands of strangers arrive.
- List 30 accounts your buyers follow. These are your future replies, creators and amplifiers.
- Start posting from the founder account. Three times a week, about the problem.
Audience and assets (4 weeks out)
- Open a waitlist. It gives you people to message on launch day, which is the most reliable early engagement you will get.
- Record the launch video. 30 to 60 seconds, real product, captions on.
- Draft the launch thread. Hook, video, proof, link in the last post.
- Show the product to AI creators and KOLs. Early, privately, and ask for honest feedback.
- Plan X ads. Audiences, creative and who owns the budget on the day.
Commitments (2 weeks out)
- Confirm amplifiers. Names and posting windows, not “they said they would share”.
- Fix the date and hour. Avoid days with big AI announcements.
- Brief the team and investors. Exact time, exact link, suggested angle.
- Prepare a launch perk. A reason to try it today rather than someday.
- Load test. The worst launch is a successful one that breaks signup.
Final checks (launch week)
- Run three teasers. Problem, sneak peek, date reveal.
- Freeze the product for the last 48 hours.
- Schedule and plan to pin the thread.
- Write a reply bank for the ten questions you expect most.
- Open a war room channel with named owners for replies, DMs and bugs.
Launch day checklist
- Founder posts at the fixed hour; the company account quotes.
- Waitlist and early users get a direct link to the post.
- Confirmed creators and KOLs get pinged the moment it is live.
- Ads switch on behind the post once real engagement starts.
- Every meaningful reply gets an answer in the first three hours.
- An afternoon follow up post keeps the thread alive.
After launch (days 2 to 7)
- One use case or user reaction per day.
- Public thanks to everyone who amplified.
- Results against the number you set six weeks earlier.
- Notes on what to repeat next time.
Using this as a product launch template
Copy the groups into your project tool as milestones and give every task an owner and a date. If you are short on time, the tasks that matter most are the waitlist, the video, confirmed amplifiers and replies on the day. Our six week timeline shows how the groups fit into a calendar.
